The Carolina Renaissance Festival will conduct auditions for performers who want to work in the Village of Fairhaven. Two audition days are scheduled: Saturday, May 30, and Saturday, June 6. Both run from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Bonnie Cone Leadership Academy in Huntersville.

Organizers want amateur and professional talent. They're casting actors, street performers, cosplayers, historical reenactors, musicians, singers, dancers, variety acts, and stagehands. Anyone 13 years old or older can try out. Registration happens online at Carolina.RenFestInfo.com.

A new position arrives this season. The Village Town Crier.

This character delivers satirical news with a bell and scroll. Part herald, part satirist, part ringmaster — the Town Crier uses a booming voice to halt passing visitors with absurd announcements.

According to WCCB- Charlotte, cast members who make it through auditions will attend free summer workshops and rehearsals. These sessions teach costuming, period language, accent work, character development, and improv techniques. Performers prepare for outdoor theater.

Working at the festival means all-day interactive theater. The 250-acre venue sits just north of Charlotte between Concord and Huntersville at the junction of NC 73 and Poplar Tent Road.

The festival blends outdoor theater with circus acts, arts and crafts, jousting tournaments, and feasts. It runs on Saturdays and Sundays from October 3 through November 22.

Tickets go on sale July 1 at Carolina.RenFestInfo.com. All tickets are date specific. Purchase happens online only.

The Bonnie Cone Leadership Academy sits adjacent to the fairgrounds at 16115 Poplar Tent Road in Huntersville. Both audition dates take place there.
