Thrift Pony opened the doors to its newest shop in Lower South End on Saturday, March 14, at 10 a.m. The resale business operates from a standalone pink building at 3110 S. Tryon St., positioned beside Lenny Boy Brewing.

This spot dwarfs the original Camp North End location, with double the square footage. A second floor functions as an event space where comedy shows, yoga classes, and markets take place.

Owner Hellen Moffitt launched the business in 2021 as Ponybox, a clothing rental startup. Then the company pivoted. Now it's a thrift and consignment brand recognized for its pink pony bus and pop-up markets scattered throughout Charlotte.

Shoppers will discover racks packed with vintage and secondhand clothing. Items span from denim and cowboy boots to streetwear and vintage tees. Most pieces in the shop sell between $5 and $40, according to Axios Charlotte.

The consignment payout structure shifts based on price. Sellers receive 30% for items priced under $10, 40% for items priced $10 to $19.99, 50% for items priced $20 to $49.99, and 60% for items priced $50 or more.

Consignment appointments are released weekly online.

The first 50 people in line at the grand opening received a free blueberry hand pie in honor of Pi Day. Local businesses set up during the grand opening, including Pertinacious Coffee and live doodle portraits were done by a local artist.
