Crave Cookies Opens First Carolinas Location in Downtown Mooresville

Crave Cookies opened its first bakery in the Carolinas on Saturday, Feb. 21, in downtown Mooresville. The Utah-based chain gave away 1,000 chocolate chip cookies at the grand opening from 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Owners Nekolle Eddie of Huntersville and Macie Mincey and Samonia Ngo of Charlotte chose 201 N. Church St., Suite 103 for the shop. The three also looked at Ballantyne and the University area before settling on downtown.

"Community was a big one for us" in where to locate, Mincey said to the Charlotte Observer. Restaurants line the block, and Mooresville's Liberty Park with its amphitheater behind the building "is filled with people just enjoying their time."

Started in Utah in 2019, the chain has spread to at least 50 spots nationwide. All locally owned. The company created and trademarked something new called the Deep Dish — 2 inches high with four different textures and a curve that holds toppings.

Each cookie is baked in-house with real butter and Guittard milk chocolate in custom molds for height, texture, and a gooey center. Single cookies cost $4.49, or $23.30 for a box of six.

The menu changes every Friday at the Mooresville spot. Every two weeks, the company releases six new flavors. Chocolate chip is the most popular and will be there every week, while other options rotate.

Three varieties were available during the soft opening and ribbon cutting on Wednesday. Options included the Crave Chocolate Chip with Ghiradelli milk chocolate chips, Chocolate Lava with molten chocolate center, and Sweetheart Sugar with pink vanilla buttercream frosting.

"Best cookies I've ever had," a Charlotte Observer editor said.

The grand opening featured raffles, face painting, cookie decorating, music, and a photo booth. The shop also offers signature sodas designed to be sipped alongside warm cookies.

The Mooresville storefront works as both a neighborhood bakery and a pickup and delivery hub for made-to-order treats.
