Ozzy clocked in last week. He'd finished his training program and earned certification before hitting patrol.
CMPD announced the newest four-legged recruit on Feb. 17, then shared how he did during those initial days, according to a Facebook post.
Charlotte Douglas International Airport is one of the busiest airports you'll find anywhere. Thousands of passengers move through each day.
Police dogs sniff out drugs and contraband at airports nationwide. These animals train for months before they're ready. Some sniff out narcotics, while others hunt explosives or track suspects.
What did Ozzy find? The department hasn't said. Police usually keep details about investigations and security tactics under wraps.
Airport K-9 teams work in shifts, so there's always coverage. Dogs and their handlers patrol public spaces and restricted areas alike.
