Culinary Dropout will open a second Charlotte location at the Bowl at Ballantyne. A permit request confirms this. The American gastropub filed plans for 15220 Bowl St., but nobody has said when doors might swing open.

The new spot takes over a two-story building in the dining and entertainment district. Construction work involves a new commercial kitchen, restrooms, finishings, and furniture. Structural changes, plumbing fixes, and mechanical upgrades round out the project, documents reveal.

The permit shows an indoor/outdoor bar and patio on the second level. There's a first-floor exterior patio too.

This Arizona-based chain runs more than a dozen locations in nine states. Fox Restaurant Concepts owns the brand. James Beard-nominated chef Sam Fox leads it.

The company opened its first North Carolina location in South End back in 2023. That spot brought the chain into the state for the first time.

"South End has become a hotspot for young people, families, and professionals, making it a prime location for Culinary Dropout," Fox told The Charlotte Observer at the time. "Whether you're enjoying a family dinner, grabbing a drink after work, hanging out before a Panthers game, or just out for a fun night with friends, this restaurant is a special place that is all things to all people."

The menu has pub fare. Soft pretzels and barbecue pork belly nachos appear. Fried chicken and hot wings show up.

Salads, pizza, and sandwiches fill out what you can eat. The restaurant calls these comfort food classics.

Guests can pick from 17 handcrafted cocktails. Beer and wine flow on tap.

CharlotteFive reached out to the restaurant chain Monday for more information and was awaiting a response.

The South End location sits at 1120 S Tryon St. #100. The upcoming Ballantyne site becomes the company's second in the area.
