Momentec Brands Moving to 756,000-SF Kannapolis Facility, Bringing 700 Jobs
This move creates 700 jobs. The athletic sportswear parent company will unite its brands at the Metro 63 building off Exit 63 of Interstate 85.

Momentec Brands announced it will consolidate operations into a 756,000-square-foot Customer Success Center in Kannapolis. This move creates 700 jobs. The athletic sportswear parent company will unite its brands at the Metro 63 building off Exit 63 of Interstate 85.
This marks the first time all brands operate under one roof. Alleson Athletic, Augusta Sportswear, Badger, C2, Holloway, High Five, and Russell Athletic will occupy the shared space. The center features robotic picking tools and apparel decoration capabilities. Orders can ship straight to players' homes.
"This new state-of-the-art building is ideal for streamlining and enhancing our operations into one central location in a community that is accessible for our customers to visit and experience the Momentec difference firsthand," said John Anton, CEO of Momentec Brands, per WBTV.com.
The company was formed in March 2024. Investment firm Platinum Equity bought Augusta Sportswear Brands and Founder Sport Group, then merged them.
Russell Athletic, one of the brands under the parent company, was started in 1902. Badger Sportswear was founded in Statesville in 1971.
Mayor Darrell Hinnant welcomed the investment. "As the home of the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers (minor league baseball team) and many local sports teams we are familiar with their products. We welcome their significant investment in our community," Hinnant said in a release, per The Charlotte Observer.
The consolidation has led to closures at other locations. A distribution center in Sidney, Ohio, will close by Jan. 30, affecting 58 workers. The Georgia facility will close by Dec. 19. Ninety-three workers face layoffs there.
The announcement marks the second major jobs gain for the Charlotte area in two days. Scout Motors said Wednesday it was relocating its headquarters from Virginia to the Plaza Midwood neighborhood of Charlotte, investing $207 million and bringing 1,200 jobs.
The Kannapolis site will open in phases starting this fall. Full operations are expected in the first quarter of 2026.
