SoFi Technologies has inked a deal for 21,000 square feet at the Everett Building in Ballantyne. Northwood Office, which owns and manages the property, confirmed this Tuesday. Last month, the San Francisco fintech said it would bring 225 workers and put $3 million into the site.
The firm should start arriving at its new hub next summer. "They should be in the space the first half of next year," Northwood said, per the Charlotte Observer.
Openings will span loan officers, processors, and underwriters. Chief experience analysts will join, as will sales teams and managers. Workers will earn at least $108,400 on average — more than Mecklenburg County's typical salary of $86,830.
State and local groups will hand SoFi about $2.5 million in incentives. Charlotte beat out Frisco, Texas, and Jacksonville, Florida, for the win.
SoFi provides financial services through apps and websites. Founded in 2011, it arrived in Charlotte during 2023.
The company employs around 3,800 workers across 14 spots in the U.S. It also has offices in Hong Kong, Latin America, and Switzerland. North Carolina already has 130 SoFi employees.
The Everett Building stands at 11525 N. Community House Road. Built in 2011, the six-story structure covers 154,141 square feet, per Northwood Office's website.
American Engineering Associates rents space there. So do Sentry Insurance Co., BWX Technologies, and ACE American Insurance Co., Northwood reports.
The new office sits beside the Bowl at Ballantyne — a 20-acre development with over 90,000 square feet of shops, a second apartment tower, and fresh roads designed to feel like a "Main Street."
