Giant Pumpkin Wall Glows With Halloween Magic in Charlotte Neighborhood

On Greenway Avenue in Charlotte, carved pumpkins cast an orange glow across the Elizabeth neighborhood, marking two decades of Halloween magic. Night after night until October's end, the illuminated display draws visitors to the neighborhood.
The display unites neighbors old and new. "It brings the community together, it brings families together. Multi-generations. You'll see grandparents all the way down to great grandkids," said Hardin Minor (with the Elizabeth Neighborhood Association), according to Queen City News.
Since 2004, this south Charlotte street has transformed each October. Carved faces peer out from rows of lit pumpkins, while ghosts and witches dance across orange shells in flickering candlelight.
The spectacle has won over newcomers to the area. "This is amazing! We just moved here, to Charlotte, a few months ago, and just to see the community like this and all the kids are out, we love it," Andrew Schuman told Queen City News.
Local volunteers watch over the glowing display through the spooky season. The wall stands until Nov. 2, when workers will clear away the seasonal magic.
Visitors can find this haunted wonder at 2017 Greenway Avenue. As darkness falls each evening through Halloween, the pumpkins light up to cast their spells.
