On Oct. 26, police officers wrote 157 tickets at two high-risk spots in Charlotte. The stops happened where West Sugar Creek Road meets Reagan Drive, and at the crossing of Plaza Road and Milton Road.
During the stops, officers found one gun. They checked 117 cars. Teams from different parts of the police force joined up to fix safety problems that kept surfacing in these spots.
"Proactive measures like [these] are an excellent example of our steadfast commitment to making the roads in Charlotte a safer place for every driver," CMPD officials said in a statement to Queen City News.
The police picked these spots after seeing many crashes (and lots of bad driving) there. Numbers showed these crossroads needed extra watching.
This work fits into a bigger plan to stop risky driving. Fast cars cause most crashes, so officers watched speeds closely. Some drivers got tickets, while others got warnings.
Different police groups came together to enhance safety. While some cops watched these trouble spots, others kept up their usual work around town. It took smart planning to spread the officers out correctly.
The police will keep watching problem areas. They'll use what they learned to pick where to work next. Each stop teaches them more about keeping streets safe.
