At Charlotte Motor Speedway, survivors and their friends turned the pit wall pink. The 1,500-foot stretch got its new coat on Sept. 30, marking the 13th time this special painting has taken place. This kicks off breast cancer month, right before three big race days.

NASCAR driver Erik Jones picked up a brush with the group. "It's been fun to really ingrain this program more into our foundation. This is year three for us with the window net program and just to watch it grow," Jones said per a Charlotte Motor Speedway release.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina worked with the Speedway and Jones's group to make it happen. Cheryl Parquet from Blue Cross NC shared her thoughts: "It's just so special to be out here with our employees and other survivors. Each and every year, it's like coming home to a family reunion."

When the Bank of America ROVAL 400 starts, pink nets will stand out on every car's window. These nets will mean more than safety: after the race, drivers will sign them for a charity sale. The money will help find cancer early in more patients.

This year, Blue Cross NC has stepped up its work in local towns. Parquet explained their wider mission: "Our mission continues to grow — from supporting breast cancer awareness to tackling hunger and other health needs — it's about making sure every North Carolinian has the resources they need to thrive."

The bright pink wall sets the scene for three straight days of racing action. First comes the truck series on Friday, Oct. 3. Next up, cars hit the track for the Blue Cross NC 250 on Saturday, Oct. 4.

The big show, the Bank of America ROVAL 400, caps off the weekend on Sunday, Oct. 5. Want to watch? Call 800-455-FANS or check out charlottemotorspeedway.com for seats.
