After 16 years at Tryon Street and Choate Circle, Snowflake Village must find a new spot. The much-loved Charlotte holiday site faces displacement due to plans for new construction in Steele Creek.
Co-founder Angela Wyant said, per WCNC, that developers will build apartments and a store at the site within three years.
"It's hard to believe," said Brian Wyant, who started the site with his wife. "It feels like we just began a few years back. But we've grown so much since then."
Success has pushed them to seek bigger grounds. Angela Wyant points to their packed events: "On our peak time during the Christmas season, we can have this lot completely full and cars wrapped around it. So when we're looking, we're looking for two to three plus acres.”
As renters of their current spot, the seasonal business, which sells pumpkins in fall and Christmas trees in winter, can't stop the upcoming changes.
Still, they stay focused on their main goal. "We bring people together," Brian Wyant said. "We're all about bringing people together, creating an experience that brings joy, that gives people some peace and some fun and a good festive atmosphere."
While searching for their next location, they've started this year's pumpkin sales right on schedule.
