Charlotte Pet Vaccination Clinic Breaks Record, Plans Free October Super-Event
Pets can get free one-year or three-year rabies shots, quick check-ups, standard vaccines, and ID chips, all at no cost on October 11.

A record-shattering 271 pets got their shots at Charlotte-Mecklenburg's September drive-thru clinic. The turnout soared past last year's count by more than half.
At the City Vehicle Operations Center, the new drive-thru model works wonders. "The clinic attendance has grown significantly this year compared to last," Melissa Knicely, ACC communications and outreach manager, said per WCNC. "We're able to move more pets through the line quickly, it's efficient, and it's much safer for pets, owners, and staff."
Since January 2025, the monthly clinics have served nearly 2,400 animals, just shy of last year's total. Summer brought big numbers: a peak of 324 shots in July, followed by 198 in August.
Mark your calendars for Oct. 11. The next clinic at the Charlotte Vehicle Operations Center, located at 2725 Beam Rd., will pack extra value. Pets can get free one-year or three-year rabies shots, quick check-ups, standard vaccines, and ID chips, all at no cost.
The simple drive-thru setup means no one steps out of their car. Early birds can line up at 7:30 a.m., with services starting at 8 a.m. Staff will stick around until every pet in line by 10:45 a.m. gets care.
