The Charlotte-Mecklenburg animal shelter has removed all adoption costs through Sept. 14. With 139 cats filling every space, staff must find homes for these pets fast. The shelter can't take in any more animals.

Want a new furry friend? Visit the Byrum Drive or Toomey Avenue sites. While most adoptions are free, Mecklenburg County residents must pay a small $10 fee for adult cats due to local laws.

Five sweet kittens await new families at the shelter. Batty, Pawla Abdul, Grace Pawter, Ozzy, and Blizzard play and purr, hoping to catch someone's eye, reports WCNC Charlotte.

The shelter needs space badly. Staff members suggest using the saved adoption money to stock up on pet supplies. Your new cat will need a carrier, litter box, food, and toys to start their life with you.

Can't take a cat home today? The shelter needs foster parents badly. Tiny kittens need special care. Cash gifts help buy milk, bottles, and supplies for the smallest felines.
