"Being home to the World's Best Steel Roller Coaster is such an honor for Carowinds and the Carolinas," said Brian Oerding, vice president and park manager, according to WCNC. "For a decade now, this triumphant ride has roared to the top, winning over our guests and the amusement park industry alike."
The awards show, known as the theme park industry's top honor, took place at Carowinds during its 27th gathering. Votes poured in from experts and fans worldwide, with strict judging standards shaping the final results.
"The Golden Ticket Awards are sent to the most experienced theme park fans. They know their stuff," said Tim Baldwin, editor of Amusement Today. "Once the tabulations are done, it is interesting that half the top ten aren't even in the United States. However, Fury 325 was the clear winner."
This steel giant rules as North America's most impressive giga coaster. Its track snakes through both Carolinas for 1.25 miles. Riders blast through twists and turns for just over three minutes.
The coaster faced a brief setback last year. Sharp-eyed inspectors found a crack in its support structure. Quick action led to a shutdown, repairs, and thorough safety checks before welcoming riders back.
At ten years old, the green and teal monster still commands attention. Its peaks pierce the sky above the park, drawing crowds from near and far.
Thrill-seekers can test their nerve on this award-winning machine during upcoming events. Both SCarowinds and WinterFest will showcase the coaster's might.
