Mark your calendars for Oct. 4 when the Shoppes at University Place transforms into a wonderland of free activities. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., kids will find endless ways to play, learn, and create.

This week brought news from University City Partners and KidsStreet Urgent Care about the festival's return. The event splits into four distinct areas, each with its own focus: making art, watching shows, playing games, and checking out big machines.

"The future is rooted in our children and the key to building strong communities starts with them," said Keith Stanley, CEO and President of University City Partners, per WCCB Charlotte.com. "Charlotte Kids Fest is more than a day of fun, it's about creating space for the families of Charlotte to connect, making sure every child in our city feels seen, supported, and part of something bigger."

Young artists can unleash their imagination in the Create Zone through workshops and art projects. Live shows will dazzle crowds in the Discover Zone, while the Play Zone buzzes with active games. Little ones who love trucks will light up at the Go Zone's display of construction machines and rescue vehicles.

When stomachs start growling, food trucks will serve up local treats. Around the grounds, merchants will offer unique items and handmade goods for sale.

A new medical center in the area, KidsStreet Urgent Care, leads the sponsorship this year. They provide care for youngsters and babies all week long. Parks Chevrolet Charlotte and Walmart add their support to make it all happen.

The JW Clay light rail station at 9325 JW Clay Blvd. offers plenty of parking spots. Best of all? The whole event costs nothing to attend.
