A fresh deal struck between American Airlines and two Charlotte sports teams will bring new benefits to fans. The airline signed with the Carolina Panthers and Charlotte FC on Aug. 27, taking the role of Official Airline Partner.

The partnership puts fan rewards front and center. AAdvantage members can win trips to away games and meet players up close. Stadium signs will show the airline's brand, while social media feeds will feature special content. Fans now have the option to trade miles for tickets.

"At American, we're passionate about bringing people closer to the moments that matter most — whether it's the joy of cheering on their favorite team or the unforgettable energy of a live event," said Caroline Clayton, American's Chief Marketing Officer, according to WCNC.

Charlotte's airport serves as American's second-largest base, with a workforce of 15,500 people. The carrier will fly teams and fan groups to matches across borders.

Eric Sudol from Tepper Sports & Entertainment spoke about the local ties. "With more than 15,500 employees in the city and its position as the largest airline at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, American is deeply rooted in our community," Sudol said per Panthers.com.

This deal adds to American's sports ties in Charlotte, building on their work with the Charlotte Sports Foundation. The cost of the agreement stays private.

To mark the start, American Airlines gave out 10,000 team-branded rally towels at the airport. Fans will now see the airline's name across team platforms: from the stadium walls to their phones.

Through online updates, American will track and share the distance teams cover during their seasons. While other airlines can still partner with the teams, American gains special marketing rights.

Genesco Sports Enterprises worked with American Airlines on the deal, while Tepper Sports handled talks through their own team.
