The Spectrum Center's massive update nears completion, setting the stage for an Oct. 19 grand reveal with back-to-back Billie Eilish shows. The $245 million project breathes new spirit into the two-decade-old venue.

"We have to have world-class facilities to be a world-class and a premier franchise," said Hornets chief venues officer Donna Julian to The Charlotte Observer. "This project is going to get us where we need to go."

Changes sweep through the building's lower level, adding 1,400 seats. Fresh seating fills every section. The main floor now sports three central bars and eight quick-serve food stations. Two spots will use Amazon's Just Walk Out system, skipping the checkout lines.

Up north, guests will find a sleek bar with views from all sides. The south side takes its cues from local style. New lights, floors, and signs now brighten the Belk Main Concourse.

Last year's work brought big changes to the Novant Health Suite Level. VIPs can now pick from the First Horizon Theater Box, Mini Suites, or a Super Suite. Below, the Event Level shines with its Inner Circle Club, Courtside Club, and Bank of America Hardwood Club.

Tourist dollars from car rentals and hotel stays funded the city's investment. This keeps the Hornets playing here until 2045.

Paint cans and wires still dot the halls. Yet staff members stay cool: they know the doors will open right on time.

Seven shows will rock the arena in just eight days. After Eilish kicks things off, Stevie Nicks performs on Oct. 21, marking 20 years since opening night. The Hornets face the Brooklyn Nets on Oct. 22 for their season start.

Tate McRae steps up on Oct. 24, with Lainey Wilson following on Oct. 25. NBA YoungBoy wraps up the week on Oct. 26. Julian added, "You've heard me talk about having a lineup that suits our community, and there is something for everybody in those first eight days."
