Getty ImagesA sweet buzz hits uptown Charlotte as The Milkshake Factory sets up shop at 100 W. Third St. The grand opening kicks off Saturday, Aug. 23, when customers can snag two shakes for the price of one between noon and 4 p.m.
The launch party promises a DJ spinning tunes and plenty of giveaways. Early birds win big: the first hundred guests get free shirts, while the earliest arrival scores a special gift basket.
Ice cream wizards at the new spot whip up more than two dozen shake varieties. Their menu stars hits like campfire s'mores and chocolate cake blends, plus time-tested classics. Each creation starts with fresh, in-house ice cream.
"We couldn't imagine a better place to open our first Charlotte location than Uptown," co-owner Deepak Murthy said in a news release per the Charlotte Observer. "It's the center of the city and we are located adjacent to the Romare Bearden park near Truist park, BOFA Stadium, and many other attractions, making it conveniently accessible to people working, living, and visiting the city."
Three business minds power the Charlotte push: Murthy, Manjesh Gorajala, and Shailendra Nanduri. "We're excited to become a destination where locals and visitors alike can treat themselves to something memorable," Nanduri said.
What started as a modest Pittsburgh soda fountain and chocolate shop has grown into much more. Now customers can pick from sundaes, craft chocolates, warm molten cups, and plant-based options.
After success in Cary and Durham, the chain now plants its flag in Charlotte. This marks their first venture into the Queen City's food scene.
Find your sweet fix at 100 W. Third Street, Suite A, in uptown Charlotte. Browse their full menu online and catch updates on Instagram @themilkshakefactory.
